Gangland boss Carl Williams 'threatened to kill cellmate' | The Australian

Gangland boss Carl Williams 'threatened to kill cellmate' | The Australian: "MELBOURNE gangland boss Carl Williams allegedly threatened to kill the man now charged with his murder, court documents have revealed.

The claims emerged in the Geelong Magistrates Court yesterday as Matthew Charles Johnson, 37, was ordered to stand trial next year for the murder.

The court has previously heard the Barwon Prison cellmates had a good relationship, with Williams's father even sending Johnson spending money.

But documents tendered yesterday allege Williams threatened Johnson before his death, including pretending to run a knife across his throat. Williams also allegedly said he would attack Johnson with a sock full of billiard balls while he was eating.

Williams died in Barwon's high-security Acacia unit on April 19 after being repeatedly struck around the head with the metal stem of an exercise bike."
