Zetas are arguably the most violent and fearsome drug cartel group

Zetas are arguably the most violent and fearsome drug cartel group. It was the Zetas who massacred 72 migrant workers and then left their bodies rotting in a a pile outside a ranch near the U.S. border in late August..Some of the initial cartel members were elite Mexican troops and that is where the U.S. and Fort Bragg enter the picture. These Mexican troop were trained in the early 1990s by the 7th Special Forces Group or "snake eaters" at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Craig Deare a former special forces commando said:"They were given map reading courses, communications, standard special forces training, light to heavy weapons, machine guns and automatic weapons.," These U.S. trained Mexican personnel were part of the Airmobile Special Forces considered an elite part of the Mexican military. The U.S. training was designed to prepare them for counter-insurgency but ironically also for counter-narcotics operations. So these members of the Zeta cartel have insider knowledge of how the other side operates! The Zetas have a reputation as the most dangerous, most vicious, and most renegade of the cartels according to a researcher. The researcher noted:"Other cartels have accused them of not following the 'gentlemen's code' of drug trafficking and causing undue violence,..At one time, it was considered bad form to kill pregnant women, but not any more." The name "Zetas" originates from the radio code "Z" used by top military commanders in Mexico. But unlike Zorro, the Mexican outlaw hero who also used the "Z" alias, Los Zetas steal from everyone, not just the rich. And they certainly don't give much back to the poor.
