Massive operation across Canada Thursday morning to dismantle a cocaine trafficking ring.So far, police have arrested 46 people in raids in Montreal, and other parts of Quebec -- the North Shore, the Laurentians, the Outaouais, Estrie and Abitibi -- as well as Ottawa and Vancouver. The raids have been carried out by the Quebec provincial police, the RCMP and Revenue Quebec.Police allege that the ring has been importing cocaine into Quebec from Mexico, using Vancouver as a point of entry into the country before moving the drugs eastward. It's believed the group moved several hundred kilograms of the drug into Quebec every year. The raids are the culmination of an investigation that began in September 2006. The suspects are all expected to appear in court Thursday or Friday to face a number of charges, including drug trafficking and gangsterism.
